What is the Rythm bot?
The Rythm bot is a music bot that makes it possible to listen to your favorite music on Discord. Using this bot, you do not need to open another app to play music, cause it lets you do it all within Discord.
The Rythm bot makes it easy to set up DJ roles and allow users to decide which music to play. It is also configurable, letting you make changes to the music queue with ease.
The bot is a part of over 16m servers. It garners users based on a simple premise - members are likely to stay on the server longer if they are listening to good music.
Given the high number of users, the makers at Rythm try to provide the best services always. But, some users have complained of the Rythm bot not working. If you are also among them, then the below fixes should help you improve the experience.
How to fix Discord Rythm Bot Not Working?
Check volume level of the bot
Although quite obvious, this could be the reason that the Rythm bot doesn't seem to work on your server. To fix this, right-click on the bot in the user list shown on the right side of the screen. Now, check user volume and increase it. If it already is high, check your device volume and confirm with the other members. In case it persists, then the other methods may be more suitable.
Rythm bot may be server muted
The owner or admin of the bot has the power to mute a member on the server. If this is the case, you should be able to see a muted red microphone icon next to the bot in the channel. In this case, the owner/ admin can right-click on the bot in a voice channel and uncheck the 'Server Mute' option.
The bot doesn't have the necessary permissions
When adding the bot to your server, Rythm asks for a set of permissions it needs, including admin. The server owner or an admin can however change these permissions later. If this is the case, then there's not much you can do unless you are an admin/ owner. As the owner/ admin of the server, you can go to 'Server settings' --> 'Roles' and edit the permissions for the 'Rythm role'.
Rythm is offline/ leaves voice channel/ maintenance
Note that Rythm isn't a 24/7 bot. Only if you pay for the Premium version and activate it on the server can you expect the bot to function all the time. Due to this, the bot does leave the channel or go offline from time to time. You can check if the bot has the green dot beside its name, and if not, then it's offline.
There could also be an outage in the bot’s servers, causing the Rythm bot to not work. To check for this, you can go to the official Discord server and check the ‘outages’ channel. To do so, you'd need to: Type '!invite' in the server, select 'Official Discord' and join the server, check '#outages' for updates.
Rythm forgot the playlist and hence is not working
To perform well, the Rythm bot sometimes clears or resets the queues when it leaves the voice channel. This disrupts the smooth functioning of the bot. The bot’s makers, therefore, suggest making a YouTube/ Spotify playlist of the songs that you wish to re-queue.
Check the playlist you’re playing
The Rythm bot functions well with regular Spotify or YouTube playlists. It can't play a YouTube Mix playlist, though. So, if you have asked the bot to play a YouTube Mix playlist, this could be the reason for the Rythm bot not working.
Check audio settings on Discord and Computer
It could happen that the audio settings on either the Discord app or your PC are coming in the way. You also need to make sure that you've selected the right output. If you're using your headphones, check to make sure that the computer's speakers aren’t in use.
To check the volume on the Discord app, click on the gear icon beside your username. Now go to 'Voice & Video' under 'App Settings'. Here, under the voice settings, check the output device and volume.
On your computer, you can check the sound settings by right-clicking on the volume shown on the taskbar. If you're using a Mac, go to 'Apple menu' --> 'System Preferences' --> 'Sound' --> 'Output'.
Correct the prefix you've entered in the message to Rythm bot
The Rythm bot, like any bot, works only if you use the correct commands. To add it to a channel, type '!summon'. For music, type '!play <Song Name/Song URL>'. If the commands aren't entered with the correct prefix (!), they will not work. So, cross-check the commands you've entered to avoid typos.
Rejoin channel if Rythm bot is still not working
You can leave the channel and rejoin to check after a while if the bot works. Although this fix may not help, it is worth a last attempt if you continue to face a problem with the Rythm bot not working. If none of the above fixes work for you, then you can try contacting Rythm's support at this link.
FAQ: How to add Rythm bot to Discord?
